11th Region Scott County (32-3) Vs Covington Catholic (27-7)
Thursday, March 7th 1:30pm

Scott County has been the team to beat for most of the season. Even when their team leader, Michael Moreno, went down, they didn’t seem to miss a beat…until Moreno came back. As many expected, Michael and the team took a few games to get back into rhythm. They suffered a couple of defeats but really played well in the Region tournament. They are senior led for sure but have a couple of juniors that are key players. If SC is shooting their season average of 40% from 3, they are nearly unbeatable.

Covington Catholic comes in as the defending state champs but is a very different team. The awe and nerves won’t be there as much as it will for other teams. The bad news is…the same is true for their opponent. A lot of the things that the Colonels do well, the Cards have also done well. If CovCath can rebound the ball well and not give up many 2nd chances on defense, they might pull off the upset.

Key Players To Watch
Scott Co: Diablo Stewart (15.1 p/g); Michael Moreno (15.1); Glenn Covington (13.7); Terrin Hamilton (huge in Moreno’s absence)
Covington Catholic: Grant Disken (13.8); Nick Thelen (13.6); Michael Mayer (10/7r/g)

PP Prediction: Scott Co 82-71 CovCath
